Val Jenkins and Laura Stack featured in CITYPAGES A-LIST this week.

Rosalux Gallery’s next exhibition, “In-Flux,” features two women artists whose work challenges perceptions, as things aren’t always as they seem. Laura Stack and Valerie Jenkins, both part of the gallery’s artist-run cooperative, will present works on paper. Stack is exhibiting mixed-media pieces and Jenkins is showing drawings. Stack juxtaposes organic and synthetic forms, forcing together worlds that are fundamentally opposite. In her work, she creates hyper-natural organisms as she plays with geometric shapes as well as improvised organisms drawn from nanotechnology and genetic engineering. Jenkins, a recipient of the 2012 Minnesota State Arts Board Artist Initiative Grant, distorts reality, too, drawing on shredded paper and transforming it into an intricate pattern.  — By Sheila Regan
